Welcome to the Trauma-Informed Approaches to Higher Education Network

We are a community of higher education workers committed to embedding trauma-informed and trauma-responsive approaches to education in university policy, practice, and research.

Our purpose

To provide a collaborative space where members can exchange ideas, experiences, and strategies related to trauma-informed approaches.

Our aims

1

To foster a supportive community of practice for practitioners, staff and academics engaged in or exploring trauma-informed approaches in higher education.

2

To share knowledge, research and practical resources that support trauma-informed teaching, learning, assessment and student support.

3

To promote critical discussion and reflection on the implementation of trauma-informed principles in curriculum design, pedagogy and institutional culture.

4

To advocate for systemic change in higher institutions to better support students and staff affected by trauma.

5

To identify and disseminate best practices in trauma-informed education, including examples of innovation and impact.

Through these activities, the Network seeks to contribute to higher education environments that not only recognise and respond to the impacts of trauma, but also support healing, resilience, and opportunities for post-traumatic growth among staff and students.
